The Instrument Rating is an optional but highly suggested step in process of becoming a professional airplane pilot. Successful completion
of this course will mean you will have instrument rating added to you Private or Commercial Certificate. This traing teaches you to
fly by solo reference to the instrument in the cock pit.
Prerequisites: The student must have a valid student certificate and current
3rd class medical prior his solo.
Aircraft: The Cessna 172
Ground
training
· Safe & efficient operation of aircraft under instruments flight rules
(IFR)
· Crew Recourses Management (CRM) and Aeronautical Decision Making (ADM)
· Use of IFR en route & instrument approach procedure charts
· Understanding the
weather elements and reports
· Usage of Aeronautical Information Manual (AIM)
· Understanding Air traffic Control System
· Understanding Radio Navigation & Instrument
Approaches
· Understanding Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR)
Flight Training
At completion of course, student will meet Federal Aviation requirements to include (but not limited to):
· Preflight preparation & procedures
· Air traffic control clearances & procedures
· Flight by reference to instruments
· Navigation systems & instrument approaches
· Emergency operations & post flight
· Familiarization with attitude instrument flight
